Fëanor, Fingolfin and Finarfin Arafinwë Drawn May 16th-17th, 2008 Approximately 8-10 hours to draw (Mostly on the 17th)
This is my gift to . Hope you like it!
So the people in this picture are Noldorian princes from Tolkiens The Silmarillion (from left to right) Fëanor, Fingolfin and Finarfin Arafinwë.
"Finwë was King of the Noldor. The sons of Finwë were Fëanor, and Fingolfin, and Finarfin; but the mother of Fëanor was Míriel Serindë, whereas the mother of Fingolfin and Finarfin was Indis of the Vanyar. Fëanor was the mightiest in skill of word and hand, more learned than his brothers; his spirit burned as a flame. Fingolfin was the strongest, the most steadfast, and the most valiant. Finarfin was the fairest, and the most wise of heart; and afterwards he was a friend of the sons of Olwë, lord of the Teleri, and had to wife Eärwen, the swan-maiden of Alqualondë, Olwë's daughter."The Silmarillion, Chapter 5 "Of Eldamar and the Princes of the Eldalië"
Fëanor Curufinwë was the son of Finwë and Míriel. After he was born his mother died and Finwë married an elf of the Vanyar named Indis. Fëanors wife was Nerdanel, and he had seven sons: Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod and Amras.
Fëanor grew swiftly, as if a secret fire were kindled within him. He was tall, and fair of face, and masterful, his eyes piercingly bight and his hair was raven-dark; in the pursuit of all his purposes eager and steadfast. Few ever changed his courses by counsel, none by force. He became of all the Noldor, then or after, the most subtle in mind and the most skilled in hand. ~ The Silmarillion Chapter 6; Of Fëanor and the Unchaining of Melkor
Fingolfin was the eldest son of Finwë and Indis. He was the brother of Finarfin and half-brother of Fëanor. He had two sons and a daughter: Fingon, Turgon and Aredhel.
Finarfin Arafinwë was the son of Finwë and Indis. Brother of Fingolfin, and half brother of Fëanor. Married Eärwen and had four children: Finrod Felagund, Angrod, Aegnor and Galadriel. He was the only one who had golden hair of Finwës sons.
Feanor's legs seem a little bit stunted, but aside from that I love your work, especially the details. I think I've only seen one other picture of all three of the sons of Finwe together. I think you capture them really well and each of their personalities come through. You ought to do a group picture of the sons of Feanor, the children of Fingolfin and of Finarfin.
You also ought to do a picture of Finwe himself. Do you realize that there are hardly any of him around?
Or of Ingwe, Olwe or Thingol for that matter.
I also hope you plan to do the Valar eventually. Especially Namo, Nienna and Tulkas! (Hint hint!
This one's also great! I do agree with about Feanor's legs, but otherwise it's awesome. I love the clothes, and Feanor's haughty look.... I guess I'll have to it.

To have found You, and still be looking for You; it's the soul's paradox of love. You fill my cup, I lift it up for more. I won't stop not that I'm free. I'll be chasing You like You chase me.
It's a beautiul sound, moving through the crowd.

" I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My spirit."
Thank you. Yeah, I haven't seen too many pictures of them all together either. But that's what Qitian wanted. Someday I might draw all the sons of Feanor, though it might be awhile. I've wanted to do all the Valar for a long time. I'll eventually draw them too. It might take ahwile before I put up anymore pictures though. I'm all drawn out. I need to take a bit of a break I think.
Actually I noticed that there were not many pictures of Ingwe, Olwe or Finwe as I was reading the Silmarillion for quotes about Feanor, Fingolfin and Finarfin. I really haven't seen any pictures of them. Finwe, a few. Thingol, even more. But not much of the other two.

Oh okay. Thank you! Yeah, their heads are a bit big I think. Now that I'm looking at it, Finarfin looks very strange. Ahhh well.

Hehehe, well thank you! Glad you like it! The clothes took a ridiculous amount of time. Thanks for the !

I especially love the clothing design, and the neutral expressions. "Must... not... kick... half-brother's shins... just now!" Great work, thank you so much!

You are very welcome! I'm very happy you like it! Heheh, yeah, I kind of like the way Feanor came out. He looks like he *really* wants to leave.
